Having started his career in Buenos Aires at Banco Frances del Rio de la Plata and moving on to New York to Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith Inc. to cover Latin American corporate and institutional clients and subsequently to Barclays Capital’s Oil and Gas group he then moved to Switzerland in order to work for a private investment and asset management company called Helvetica WMP AG, majority controlled by Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, then Prime Minister of the State of Qatar and with Credit Suisse Investment Partners AG as a 10% shareholder.
Helvetica was subsequently purchased by Credit Suisse Investment Partners at which point Juan co-founded an Energy Infrastructure long/short fund called EQ Capital which was later purchased by Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Juan then joined a merchant and private equity firm called Genii Capital in Luxemburg which owned, among its other holdings, the Lotus Formula One Team where Juan was involved in corporate, financing and commercial sponsorship matters.
Out of Genii Capital, a new entity was created called Nekton Global DMCC where Juan was the Chief Investment Officer and Director, based in Dubai, in order to focus exclusively on Energy deals. After Nekton Juan created Mangoré Advisors & Co and is based out of Switzerland focused on Latin America merchant transactions in the water infrastructure and renewable energy industry.
